Volunteer Opportunities
Child Match
Be a Mentor and a Role Model. Spend a couple of hours a week with a child age 3-18 who is struggling with emotional problems and/or a mental illness. Buffalo Compeer for Kids Program is the largest in the country and helps kids throughout Buffalo and Erie County.
Adult or Senior Match
Be a Special Friend
Spend an hour or two a week with a person age 18 and over who has been diagnosed with a mental illness. Spend time being a friend!
Compeer friends do whatever is of mutual interest, such as attend movies, go out to eat, shop, play cards/games, go for a walk, talk, etc.
Intensive Mentorship
Mentors are highly trained to meet the needs of children and youth with varying degrees of diagnosed mental health problems. This program, funded in part by the Erie County Department of Mental Health, makes mentoring a core service in the treatment planning process for hard-to-serve children and youth.
Volunteer Office Opportunities
General Office Support. Help in the office with mailings, phone calls, filing, data entry. Office hours Monday thru Friday 9-5 Help with parties and various functions.
Recruitment Help
Help to Recruit Volunteers. Distribute material at various community buildings and at local colleges. Visit churches. talk to various groups about becoming volunteers.
